ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Using data compiled by Statistical Surveys in Grand Rapids, Mich, the North American Trailer Dealers Association reported that sales of trailers were down 1.3 percent in November.
Due to data problems, Arizona, Maine and Minnesota are not included in the data or in the national totals, Statistical Surveys reported. Historical comparisons do not include these states.
For the first 11 months of 2011, trailer sales are down 1.4 percent. The chart below shows the breakout by trailer type.
While overall sales are down, the percentages are getting close to even with those of 2010, said Andy Ackerman, president of NATDA.
The following states had the best overall sales results for all trailers between January and November 2011:
Other states with increased sales this year include Iowa and South Dakota.
"November only showed slight declines, so perhaps the market is close to the bottom of the sales slump," said Ackerman.
