HARRISONBURG, Va. -- WHSV reports that a bill in the Virginia General Assembly, which would have required public campsites to base their fees on private ones, has been dropped.
Right now, fees are $15 to $30 cheaper at public campsites, reports WHSV.
KOA campgrounds in Broadway are some of many private places that supported this legislation. They say they have bills to pay, and need to charge a certain amount to make a profit, reports WHSV.
But many campers say this legislation would have only raised prices for families. And after receiving so much negative feedback from constituents, Delegate Peter Farrell decided to drop the bill, reports WHSV.
