HOMOSASSA, Fla. -- Yesterday, the Citrus County Commission voted unanimously to hand over day-to-day operation of the Chassahowitzka Campground in Homosassa to Moore and Moore Realty, a private company, reports Citrus Daily.
Citrus Daily reports that Moore and Moore will have its hands full. Citrus County Parks and Recreation Department head Rafael Del Valle said that, "... 2004 was the last time we had a net profit for the campground (and) the county has lost about $138,304 since 2005."
Elaine Moore, president of the private company, said the current occupancy rate is 25 percent for the approximately 53 RV sites and 30 tent sites, reports Citrus Daily.
"One of our first goals is to (publicize it) by working with chamber and events to get people in there and using the campground," Moore said. "We also need internet and cable TV there."
