LIVINGSTON, Texas -- RV Cooking Show host Evanne Schmarder was curious about how Norcold makes their "can't live without" RV kitchen appliance -- the RV refrigerator.
So she opted to take RV Cooking Show viewers on a tour of the Norcold RV refrigerator factory.
"As a fulltime RVer and an eager and avid RV kitchen cook, my RV fridge plays a huge role in meal preparation," she explained. "Sometimes I stuff it full, like after returning from a wonderful farmer's market, and other times I work hard to empty it, like when we are getting ready to roll. Occasionally, it plays a special role in my life, like helping me out when I'm in need of mood food, such as ice cream."
When Schmarder was visiting Sidney, Ohio, she had an opportunity to tour the Norcold RV refrigerator plant, watching the process of this made-in-America product being built from start to finish.
"We spent the day visiting with their dedicated staff members, walking the production line, learning why they do things the way they do and getting some of our practical questions answered," she explained.
"For instance, I wanted to know where's the best spot in my Norcold freezer to store my ice cream? How does the fridge light know when to turn on and off and why exactly do I need a screwdriver to remove my fridge shelves?" said Schmarder. "We've got the answers and more in this how's it made RV TV episode.
Schmarder also provides viewers with a recipe for Jana's Zucchini Mock Apple Pie. To view the episode, click here.
"The recipe was shared by longtime Norcold employee Jana Douglas, who also passed along a recipe for Plain Ole Zucchini Pie," she explained. "You can see that and learn more about Jana on our blog."
