OCALA, Fla. -- Bill Yattaw was stricken with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) seven years ago, leaving him only able to move his head. His wife Myrna cared for him, so when she suddenly died in September, he felt his life was over. But Yattaw's son-in-law quickly made him realize there was still life left to live, reports Ocala.com.
Ocala.com reports that Yattaw told his son-in-law Joe Brandon that he never saw the Grand Canyon or Mount Rushmore, so to help make Yattaw's wishes come true, the Brandons bought a specially equipped RV.
The family made their first trip to Ocala, where Bill and Myrna had spent winters for eight years, to spend New Years at The Springs RV Resort in Silver Springs. The trip served as a test run to see how well Yattaw would handle traveling, reports Ocala.com.
Ocala.com reports that they hope to make a trip to the Grand Canyon in the spring.
