YORK, Maine -- According to Melvin "Bud" Riggs of Tulsa, Okla., Flagg's RV Resort in York sent out letters in March to RV owners telling them they must remove their RV from the park by May 1 to make way for their own cottages, reports Seacoastonline.com.
Riggs said Flagg's is replacing privately-owned RVs on its 80 lots with cottages the park plans to rent out for $1,449 per week.
According to Planning Board members and Code Enforcement Officer Ben McDougal, replacing trailers on wheels with cottages without wheels would require approval.
Riggs and his wife have been visiting York since 1982 and staying at Flagg's for the past seven years. They are returning this June, knowing they'll soon have to find another seasonal home.
"It's really a shame people that love York are getting crowded out," he said.
