RVer accuses Western Horizon of breach of contract for sale of resorts
I apologize for your negative experience you had at the Camp Verde Resort. I have forwarded your comments on to our CEO and to the sales person's manager. This is not how we want to represent our resort and we will make sure the proper action is taken.

RVer accuses Western Horizon of breach of contract for sale of resorts
I suffered thru the sales pitch at Camp Verde. What a dump. They call this a "resort"? I got 4 free days thru the dealer that I bought my RV from. Never once did the dealer or WHR mention that I had to sit thru a sales pitch. This salesman would make any used car salesman look like an amateur. After nearly 2 hours I questioned him about particular resorts on the list. He never once mentioned that many on the list had been sold. When he was done he said he would would leave the room and that we had 15 minutes to make a decision. The price was good only for 15 minutes. I told him that I did not need 15 minutes. I don't make snap decisions on anything, especially when it comes to spending $8K. At that point he got agitated and insinuated that I was an idiot for even questioning either his or WHR's reputation. He asked me to sign a paper with nothing checked as to whether I would buy or not buy. I told him that I wasn't signing anything that wasn't properly filled out. His agitation escalated at that point. I told him that I wanted a couple of days to research the company, and would he call me before I left the park? He said "why would I call you, if you decide to do it, just let them know at the office. They'll contact me." With that he huffed out of the room.

I'm 60 years old and have vast experience in sales and management. I currently own a company that does business consulting. This is the worst sales experience that I have ever had. I can't believe that anyone would buy this on the spot without first checking out the company. Once I checked them out, I left the park as fast as I could.

Good luck to everyone who is a member. Based on my experience, I think things will only get worse. This is a company who obviously has no communication skills and no ethics.

Newmar provides motorhome for Vets Roll tour
Thank you Bob.

I did not know your military background; thank YOU for your service.

Matt Miller and the folks at Newmar truly 'get it' and we are thrilled to partner with them this year!

Our greatest hope is for RV manufacturers and dealers in other parts of the Eastern 1/3 of the country to consider starting a similar program.

These are the men and women who not only saved the face of freedom, but they are also the men and women who have allowed our industry to grow and prosper through the last 40+ years.

The emotional high we have experienced cannot be over stated. We owe this gratitude and celebration to this generation!!

Feel free to contact me at any time if you have an interest in our incredibly successful model. We will update this third trip on Facebook at VetsRoll.org.

Sincerely Mark Finnegan Mark@VetsRoll.org by Mark Finnegan

As a disabled veteran myself, I want to publicly thank Newmar for this kind gesture toward these veterans and this project. We are fighting different wars now and it is difficult for many people to truly understand the dangerous environment we send our brave men and women into for the war on terrorism. The death and injuries to our veterans brings incredible hardship and pain families and loved ones. Anything we can do to help lessen that pain and make the sacrifices understandable is welcome and Newmar should be commended for helping out with this effort. Thank you Newmar! by Bob Zagami
UVS Junction warns dealers about Craigslist postings
I can see ICANN getting involved (since they are the international governing body that issues domain names) if someone used Craigslist in their domain name (e.g., craigslist-info.com or some such), but that is not the same as auto-posting. Otherwise, a court would have to get involved, or the federal government. Craigslist by themselves cannot seize anybody's domain name. by Rex Gambill
UVS Junction warns dealers about Craigslist postings
Angie,

It is a "tool" and not true automation. But tools like that have to be authorized or they are against the terms of service.

eBay has serveral tools that are allowed(those companies pay ebay to allow them). Craigslist does not because it is not how they want to run their company. eBay is for businesses to sell(more now than in the past) while craiglists has tried to remain a consumer to consumer website. They have minimal staff and the site is moderated by the community.

Craigslist likely spends most of their man hours trying to block the next "tool". eBay hates this because eBay owns s significant percentage of craigslist they bought from a former employee. But lawsuit after lawsuit has found in craigslist favor. They can continue to use whatever business model they wish even if it minimizes profit. by Aaron

First time author celebrates publication of RV Cookbook
By Greg Gerber @ 7:40 AM :: :: 2 Comments :: Article Rating :: RV Owners, Features

The RV Centennial Cookbook is a 160-page book featuring recipes from RVers as well as maintenance tips.WACO, Texas -- What a miraculous idea. Travel across the country in a vehicle reminiscent of a home. The American people have been doing just that since 1910 in recreation vehicles of all different sizes.

The year 2010 marked a century of RVing, and the occasion didn’t go unnoticed. The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) dubbed the year the “RV Centennial Celebration,” meant to commemorate the joy people get from RVing.

One of those people is now first-time author, Evada Cooper, who recently completed The RV Centennial Cookbook: Celebrating 100 Years of RVing. Cooper, who runs an online school called MobileRVacademy.com with her husband, Terry, is a life-long RV enthusiast. Naturally, the centennial celebration was something she couldn’t let pass.

“It was late 2009,” Cooper said. “Knowing the RV Centennial was coming, I wanted to do something different to honor this event.”

It was difficult to come up with an idea that hadn’t been done before with more than 100 years of RVing, until a spark ignited a fire one night as Cooper was watching TV.

“I had watched a show about this woman reporter spending time with a large fire department wanting to write a feature story on the lives of those concerned,” Cooper said. “She decided to do a cookbook because of all the unique and wonderful recipes that were cooked, as these people were well taken care of in the culinary division.”

Cooper then developed the idea to commemorate the RV Centennial celebration by compiling a cookbook with 100 recipes. Not just any recipes, but ones submitted by fellow RV lovers from across the country. After a little research and finding out her idea was something unique, Cooper met with Publisher Mark Long of TSTC Publishing, and the two decided to turn Cooper’s idea into a reality.

Cooper said it took 45 days to compile the recipes. Invitations went out to RV clubs and organizations as well as through press releases inviting anyone with a fun, and easy-to-assemble recipe to submit it for possible use. She also invited contributors to submit a short bio or story about their RV life.

The RV lifestyle is simple and laid-back. Food is an important ingredient to an RV household, yet still less important than family time and the great outdoors. Cooper wanted to make sure her cookbook offered recipes that were delicious, provided large servings, and didn’t take long to prepare.

“As I started the collection process, I began to get to know some of the people who were chosen to share their most loved recipes with me,” Cooper said. “Everyone who I had contact with was so honored to be a part of what I was doing.”

And what else was she doing? Combined with recipes with names alone that can make a person’s mouth water like Three Berry Pudding Cake and Incredibly Fattening Macaroni Casserole, Cooper also asked her husband to contribute maintenance tips. Her publisher then added brief history blurbs about RVing and instructions on how to play nostalgic games such as “Kick the Can.”

According to a recent article in Waco Today, “some 20 million Americans drive about 14 million vehicles, so the potential audience for the cookbook is huge,” regarding Cooper’s comments about the decision to include the maintenance tips. She added them in hopes of reeling in more than the average food guru.

To Cooper’s delight, RVIA decided to endorse her book, and RVIA President Richard Coon wrote the preface to her book.

A review in Publishers Weekly noted, “Cooper gives campers plenty of options that come together quickly and travel well.” While another review from the “RV Insights” blog calls the publication “the perfect cookbook for RVers,” a “gem,” and recommends RV travelers add the cookbook to their shelves before they hit the road for the camping season.

“I will always be surprised at the wonderful reviews the book has received,” Cooper said. “I know it’s beautiful; however, it does make me happy that others think so, too.” The colorful 160-page hardback book was designed by Cecilia Sorochin of SoroDesign.

“It was such an honor to give tribute to an organization as huge as the RV Industry,” Cooper said, “but what I find gratifying is here in America, it’s all about the people here now, and the ones who have come before us.”

The RV Centennial Cookbook commemorates the lifestyle people have loved for a century – the ones who have come before us, and now, with the publication, people will be able to enjoy a little slice of RV heaven as long as the cookbook resides on the shelf.

The cookbook will arrive in early April, and Cooper is busy planning numerous book signings, including one on April 20 at the Food Service/Culinary Arts Center on the TSTC Waco campus. The center also will feature foods made from recipes from the book on that day.
