Texan RV Park seeks workampers, housekeepers

ATHENS, Tex. — The Texan RV Park , located just outside Athens, Texas on U.S. Hwy 175 W, just 72 miles Southeast of Dallas, is under new ownership.

The Coopers of Mobile RV Academy and the Andersons of Workamper News have purchased Texas RV Park as the next step in furthering their mission to provide a quality RV technical training facility for the RV industry and consumer.

The Coopers/Andersons purchased the park July 14th and are now tweaking staffing needs and putting upgrades of the park into motion to prepare for the opening of the Big Red School House home of the National RV Training Academy in early 2018. The 12,000-square-foot training facility will be located at the front of the Texan RV Park and will provide the first-of-its-kind training facility in the United States.

As the project moves forward in development, the company is seeking two Workampers to function as lawn keepers and to assist with general outside maintenance help. The Texan RV Park is a 37.4-acre facility with many acres of grass that must be groomed to maintain the park-like environment. In the winter months, there will be other maintenance projects as work begins to ready the park for training academy operations.

The company also seeks two housekeepers for general cleaning of cabins, the clubhouse, laundry facility and the shower house. The ideal candidate will be someone with an eye for detail and a desire to provide a quality experience for guests/students.

Both the lawn keeper/maintenance positions and housekeeping positions are available to begin as soon as August 10th and are available for extended stays if desired. The ideal candidate will be willing to commit to winter season commitment (now through May 1, 2018) at minimum.

All positions will work 18 hours/week if single, or nine hours/week each, if couple, for site trade out, including electricity. Those hours will most likely be broken into two or three days of part-time shifts.

Along with the site trade for hours, the owners are also offering a unique opportunity to earn 10 credits x extra hours to be applied toward tuition for RV training courses, through a program called the Texan RV Park Work Study Program.

Interested parties can apply through the Workamper News system by sending a resume to Bryan Armstrong, general manager of the Texan RV Park, at bryanarmstrong4@gmail.com. Or, you may call Bryan at  940.781.1107.
