FOREST CITY, Iowa — Winnebago Industries today announced an exclusive, multi-year partnership with Chicago’s north-side baseball manager Joe Maddon.
Maddon and his wife, Jaye, are noted RV enthusiasts and will spend baseball’s offseason and spring training periods living in their motorhome and maximize their off time via the freedom owning a Winnebago affords, the release explained.
As part of the new partnership, the Maddons took delivery of a new 2017 Winnebago Grand Tour in Mesa Ariz., which includes four slideouts, a master suite, fireplace and a retractable 60-inch TV in the lounge area.
“What I love about Winnebago is that it is this great, iconic RV brand, but also forward thinking,” said Joe Maddon, baseball manager, curse-slayer and RV enthusiast. “Winnebago gets us and our lifestyle – it’s our home.”
Boosted by the recent acquisition of Grand Design RV, Winnebago Industries is off to a strong start in 2017 and looks to make a broader commercial push into the growing market by tapping into Maddon’s appeal, which spans across sports and with fans of all ages around the globe, the release explained.
“With their unique style, class and sense of adventure, Joe and Jaye are the perfect embodiment of the Winnebago brand,” said Michael Happe, Winnebago Industries President and CEO. “We are really excited to kick off this partnership with the Maddons and collaborate with them as we introduce Winnebago and the appeal of the RV lifestyle to a new generation of fans.”
The Maddons took delivery of their new Winnebago in Mesa, Ariz., during 2017 spring training. Winnebago will also be rolling out additional extensions of the Meet the Maddons campaign throughout the season, including a forthcoming Korked Baseball/Respect 90 T-shirt collaboration, media campaign and social media extensions.
