What will happen to Jayco employees?

ELKHART, Ind. — A merger of two giants in the local RV industry won’t bring many changes for employees, but significantly alters the make-up of the industry behind the scenes.

Thor Industries, the world’s largest RV maker, announced Friday it would acquire the family-owned Jayco Inc., a Middlebury-based manufacturer, for $576 million. But little will change for employees when they return to work Tuesday after the holiday weekend, including the management team at Jayco.

“We’ll continue to stay active as we have over the last 48 years,” Derald Bontrager, Jayco president and chief executive officer, said. “It’s going to be seamless for our customers, our dealers and our employees.”
