Vets Roll set to launch sixth trip to Washington

SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. — Mark Finnegan, owner of Finnegan RV and co-founder of VetsRoll, today announced the days of the sixth trip being planned to transport World War II veterans and Rosie the Riveters to Washington to view the monument erected in their honor.

The trip takes place May 17 to 20, and Matthew Miller, president of Newmar, has agreed to lend the group a 43-foot Dutch Star to serve as the lead vehicle in the caravan of buses headed to the nation’s capitol. It is the fourth year that Newmar has been a major sponsor of the tour.

More than 1,125 veterans and Rosies have already taken part in the journey. Finnegan released some other details about the effort:

  • 2,900 hotel rooms were provided to house the veterans
  • 22,500 meals have been served along the way
  • The convoys have logged 146,000 miles shuttling veterans from Beloit to Washington
  • Veterans from 29 states have participated in the Vets Roll tours since its inception.

The organization is a 501 (c) (3) charity and is seeking funding to offset costs of the 2015 tour.

  1. Thank you Greg for the coverage and to Matthew Miller and the Newmar family for your continued support of our program.

It is important to remember we are not only honoring our nation’s senior heroes, but in many cases we are honoring our former (and current) customers who allowed us all to build and make a living in the RV industry!
