Trump donates first quarter salary to national parks

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump will donate his first quarter salary to the National Park Service, White House press secretary Sean Spicer announced Monday.

“The president has spoken with counsel and made the decision to donate his first quarter salary to a government entity,” Spicer said at Monday’s briefing.

Spicer handed a check for $78,333.32 for the National Park Service to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke. Spicer said the paycheck starts from Jan. 20, when Trump took office, until now.

At Monday’s briefing, Zinke said the donation will go to the maintaining historic battlefield sites.

During the campaign, Trump vowed that he wouldn’t take the presidency’s $400,000 annual salary if elected, and he repeated that promise after his victory in November.

Last month, Spicer said that Trump will donate his salary at the end of the year and asked the press to weigh in on where the donations should go.

Oh how “nice” of him after massively cutting the NPS budget. What an insult.

    • Yes it is so considerate. $78,000 will go a long way in getting caught up with the billions of dollars deferred maintenance. Maybe they can earmark that to replace one of the boardwalks at Yellowstone so maintence wouldn’t have to check that one daily for popped nail trip hazards.

  2. Scott Baldassari

Don’t worry folks. We won’t have to worry about all the budget cuts – he hopes to sell off some public lands and/or lease to oil companies and the like; I’m sure it will all help to make America Great again… ;-[

  3. I give him credit. He as opposed to any of his predicessors is donating his personal $ as opposed to tax $.
Name any other Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, or any other that has done anything near the same.
At least his is putting HIS money where HIS mouth is. Which of you bad mouthers are doing the same.
