Thor Industries recalls 88 RVs for missing exhaust

WASHINGTON — Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling 88 2017 Challenger 37YT motorhomes because the exhaust pipe for the onboard gasoline generator may be incorrectly installed or missing completely from the vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

Without a correctly-installed generator exhaust pipe, there may be a buildup of carbon monoxide within the interior of the vehicle, increasing the risk of personal injury or death.

Remedy

TMC will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the motorhomes for proper generator exhaust installation and routing, replacing or reinstalling the exhaust, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin Aug. 2. Owner’s may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-500-1020. TMC’s number for this recall is RC000138.

  1. Good Lord… 🙁

  2. I will never buy anything that is owned by Thor Industries. I hope they don’t screw up Airstream now that they bought them out.

    • “Now that they bought them out”?? Thor has owned Airstream for over 30 years.

    • Well stay away from Forest River also, they are even worse than Thor. If Thor forgot about the entire exhaust on a Motorhome, Forest River probably forgot the motor and/or transmission.
