QUEENSLAND, Australia — Following their star turn on TV’s The Block, Michael and Carlene Duffy will be dispensing design wisdom — caravan style — at an end of tour celebration Oct. 31 for Dometic’s 2014 Follow The Sun ambassadors, the Caravan Industry of Australia reported today.
The designing duo, along with celebrity cooks Blair Tonkin and Paul Bullpitt of My Kitchen Rules fame, will gather at the Broadwater Tourist Park Oct. 31 for an exciting wrap party to congratulate the Dometic Follow The Sun ambassadors – the luckiest road trippers in Australia, the release noted.
Free for all to attend, the event will mark the last stop for the three Dometic Follow The Sun couples, who each scooped a $35,000 bonanza that included a three-month expenses paid road trip around Australia, plus a luxury makeover of their caravans with the latest Dometic and WAECO products.
Free for all to attend, the Halloween themed celebration from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. will include a design your own caravan competition, judged by Michael and Carlene; a gourmet camp cooking demonstration by Blair & Paul; and an appearance by TV’s Discover Downunder host and former Olympic swim star Brooke Hanson, also the face of Follow The Sun.
A calypso band will play and other fun activities will include face painting, a bouncy castle and balloon animals for the children, a dance performance by Golden Coastline dance company as well as free giveaways and a prize for the best dressed family – extra points for goblins, witches and ghosts.
The party will signal the end of the once-in-a-lifetime road trip for Kellie and Corey Stephenson and son Zac, 5, of Charters Towers; Denise and Terry Park of Palmwoods; and Michelle and Michael Lucas of East Ballina, who enjoyed time away with daughters Samantha, 13, and Julia, 10.
All keen caravanning enthusiasts, the couples set off on their chosen journeys from Brisbane Aug. 1 to tour some of Australia’s best destinations and meet new people while being paid to travel in their newly renovated caravans.
The winners each held a free happy hour at various destinations, inviting locals and travel enthusiasts to enjoy a free drink and a friendly chat about their traveling adventures, the release explained.
Dometic Australia Managing Director Andreas Bischof said the Follow The Sun promotion demonstrated the freedom and adventure a caravanning experience offers.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming all the winners back and hearing about their sensational adventures,” he added.
