Spots still available at Jellystone Parks for upcoming holiday weekend

MILFORD, Ohio — Patriotic parades with golf carts, bikes and pets are among the Memorial Day and Victoria Day weekend activities scheduled at Jellystone Parks across North America.

“Our franchisees typically sell out for Memorial Day and Victoria Day weekends weeks or months in advance,” said Michele Wisher, vice president of marketing for Leisure Systems, Inc., which franchises 85 Jellystone Parks across the U.S. and Canada.

This year, however, quite a few Jellystone Parks still have at least some tent or RV sites and even cabins available for Memorial Day or Victoria Day weekend availability as of Monday, including parks in the following cities:

“Families should make their reservations as soon as possible if they haven’t already,” Wisher said.

Jellystone Parks typically a wide range of activities for Memorial Day and Victoria Day weekends, from patriotic parades to competitive events. Here’s a sampling of what’s being planned at several Jellystone Park locations across North America:

— Big Prairie (Holmes County), Ohio: Activities include a patriotic campsite decorating contest; a stars and stripes parade with golf carts, bikes and pets; as well as gaga ball, volleyball and corn hole tournaments. Servicemen and women are encouraged to come in uniform to attend the park’s memorial service. www.whisperinghillsjellystone.com

— Gardiner, N.Y.: Activities include arts and crafts; a holiday pots and pans parade; adult horseshoes and cornhole tournaments; and a barbecue dinner Saturday night with live entertainment. www.lazyriverny.com

— Harrisville, Penn.: Activities include a children’s craft; a dunk tank; a bean bag toss tournament; Karaoke; and a family movie. www.pittsburghjellystone.com

— Mexico, N.Y.: Activities include a bicycle decorating contest with the bears and a parade; tie dye t-shirts; a “wet and wild” wagon ride; and a dance party with the bears. www.jellystonecny.com

— Mount Gilead, Ohio: This parks activities include a hamburger relay; tie dye crafts; and Karaoke. www.columbusjellystone.com

— Warrens, Wis.: Activities include craft time with Cindy Bear; jump rope contests; scavenger hunts; a pie eating contest; a campsite decorating contest; a glow-in-the-dark parade where you can decorate your golf cart, bike, scooter or yourself in glow-in-the-dark materials; a bedtime stories with the bears. https://jellystonewarrens.com
