RVI Prayer Breakfast offers message of forgiveness

ELKHART — Given the recent rash of bad press surrounding police actions and riotous responses, a story about a friendship between a white police officer who falsified reports and the black man he wrongly put behind bars seems like a fairy tale with no basis in reality.

But, that’s exactly the story people will hear at the 2016 RVI Leadership Prayer Breakfast during the annual National RV Trade Show Nov. 30, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville, Ky. That story is very real.

Ex-con Jameel McGee and former policeman Andrew Collins have a colorful history starting in 2005 when Collins implicated McGee in a drug bust that ended up sending the latter to federal prison for four years. Through a sequence of events both painful and curious, the two ended up crossing paths in recent years – and becoming fast friends. These days, McGee and Collins share their experience and testimony of miraculous forgiveness that heals the giver as well as the recipient.

“In this day and age of blanket condemnation, it’s more than refreshing to hear about peace and companionship between two people who had every reason to be lifelong enemies. It changes your thinking about what God can make us mentally and emotionally capable of,” said Carl Pletcher, RVI Leadership Committee chairman. “I heartily encourage my RV-industry colleagues to come hear this remarkable story first-hand from Andrew and Jameel.”

The event is open to all National RV Trade Show show attendees and their teams. Individual tickets are $17 each and tables of 10 are $160. Sponsorships are also still available for those who would like to support RVI, a nonprofit group that has conducted the event for more than three decades.

“The support we’ve received year after year is a great blessing. The Prayer Breakfast is not financially viable on its own and simply would not exist without our sponsors,” Pletcher stated. “We are deeply grateful for their kindness and ongoing generosity.”

Payment and reservations can be sent to the RVI Leadership Prayer Breakfast Committee at 56771 Wedgewood S., Elkhart, IN, 46516.

For more information on attending or sponsoring the event, or to provide payment with a credit card, contact Pletcher at 574.215.7173 or email
