RICHMOND, B.C. — The RV Dealers Association of Canada’s RV Technician Bursary Program was created to alleviate the financial hardships some technicians may experience while going to school.
The bursary program also intends to encourage technicians to complete the necessary training in a timely manner. There are 21 bursaries available at $1,000 and two bursaries at $2,000. With the grants and bursaries that are also available at the provincial and regional level, these would help offset additional costs associated with training.
“This bursary is only available to technicians employed at an RVDA dealer member location,” said Eleonore Hamm, executive director. “Because of YOUR RVDA membership, YOUR technicians are eligible to apply. Non-member applications are not accepted.”
Very few bursary applications have been received and the application deadline is June 1. Hamm encourages dealers to have technicians submit the completed application even if transcripts and official certificates aren’t issued until after the deadline.
“The application process is neither lengthy nor complicated,” she explained. “This is a true benefit to RVDA members as non-members are not eligible.”
The complete package includes an application form, employer reference and essay. The forms must be received by June 1.
