RV Business: Towable registrations up 8.6 percent

RV Business: Towable registrations up 8.6 percent

ELKHART — Driven by strong performance in the travel trailer sector, year-over-year towable RV retail registrations grew 8.6 percent in August and 15.8 percent for the first eight months of 2015, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys, RV Business reported.

Results by category showed:

  • Sales for the high-volume travel trailer segment increased 12.3 percent for the month and 19.2 percent year-to-date.
  • Fifth-wheel registrations edged up 1.5 percent in August and 8.7 percent for the first eight months.
  • Folding camping trailer sales fell 10.5 percent for the month and 1.2 percent year-to-date.
  • Park model RV sales declined 16.1 percent for August but were up 3.7 percent for the first eight months.
