Podcast 91: Finance and insurance expert Jan Kelly
Jan Kelly

Podcast 91 starts with host Greg Gerber explaining some interesting observations he’s made involving younger professionals in the RV and outdoor hospitality industries. The ideas they are proposing are truly out-side-the-box ways of addressing problems.

This week’s guest makes a repeat appearance on RV Industry News. Jan Kelly is the president of Kelly Enterprises and she’s an expert in finance and insurance. She provides onsite training and phone consulting to RV dealers across the country.

Her relaxed, matter of fact approach to presentations is disarming to customers and when used properly can help RV dealers boost their profitability by providing products customers really need to save money and protect their investments.

Kelly talks about some trends she is seeing in the F&I segment having to do with regulations and reserve requirements. She also talks about compliance issues and why dealers need to diversify into other products. She even provides tips on how F&I managers can convert cash customers into financing their purchases.

Perhaps the best part of this interview is that Kelly takes RV dealers to task over their approach in hiring people to fill F&I positions. She’s got some pretty tough words for dealers who hire other F&I professionals who left positions at other dealerships, and questions why they would ever hire someone from other industries.

She offers a workable solution to the problem and explains how dealers can develop a top-notch F&I department with bringing potential problems into the business.
