This week’s guest is Garrett Finney, the founder and CEO of TAXA Outdoors, a company based in Houston. He was at the Elkhart open house where the firm was introducing a brand new line of compact, lightweight trailers.
These RVs are designed specifically to operate as base camps for outdoor adventures. They lack some of the amenities most people expect to see in an RV, but they make up for that in versatility and the ability to haul gear into very remote places.
Finney worked for NASA designing crew spaces for the International Space Station, so he saw an opportunity to transform the RV industry by backing in a lot of equipment and living space in a smaller, confined area.
His RVs are also adept at working well off the grid, meaning they don’t need to be plugged into electricity and water for the users to have a good time.
He describes the trailers, the market TAXA Outdoors is trying to reach and opportunities for RV dealers to tap into growing audience for lightweight adventure trailers.
Any active RVers who want to avoid crowded campgrounds and bring their kayaks, bicycles and hiking gear with them would appreciate the simplicity and versatility of these units.
