CRESTVIEW, Fla. — Passport America today introduced its new, improved and redesigned My Passport America app, the company announced.
The apps features include:
Map parks by state — Tap “Search Parks” from the app’s home page or tap “Search” from one of the app’s menus. Then, select a state, but make sure that other search criteria such as campground name and state are left empty, and amenities are not selected. Next, scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap the “Search” button.
Once the search results populate, tap the word “Map” on the top right corner of the app screen. This will display all of Passport America parks for the selected state on a map. To go back to the list view of the search results, tap the word “List” on the top right corner of the screen.
Location-based features — If the app has difficulty finding a user’s location, make sure that both the device’s GPS/location service and the permission for the app to use the device’s location services are turned on. The app does not control location services on the device, it simply uses the locations.
Update e-mail address — Users can update their e-mail address submitted to the app any time by tapping “Utilities” from the app’s mome screen or menus, then tap “Update Email Address.”
Menus — All of the options that appear on the app’s home page can be accessed from most pages on the app by tapping the “Home” icon in the top right corner of the page or by tapping the word “Menu” on the bottom right corner of the screen. Some pages show the word List or Map in the top right corner. This gives users the option to switch back and forth between list view and map view of campgrounds.
Park Listing Data — The new My Passport America app features all of the same park information that is found in the group’s annual international camping directory. To view this information in the new app, first select a park. Then, using the app’s “campground info” page, scroll down to see light blue drop-down buttons. Then, tap these buttons to expand them and view the park’s highlights, notes, directions, and other useful information.
Trip Routing Options — When using the new app to route a trip, users may include Passport America parks along theroute. Here’s how: On the “trip routing” page under “Step 3: Include Passport America Discount Parks along the way?” tap the toggle switch on the right-hand side of the screen to turn this feature on.
If this toggle switched is grayed out, that means the feature to include Passport America parks is turned off. Then, select the distance from route for which parks should be included. Users would repeat this process under “Step 4: Select a radius circle around your current location?” to show a blue radius around their location while traveling along the route.
The app is available at the Apple App Store and Google Play.
