PA campgrounds and RV dealers team up for contest

MEADVILLE, Pa. — Western Pennsylvania campgrounds and select Western Pennsylvania RV dealers have teamed up again in 2014 to provide campers a very special camper contest.

During the contest, any camper purchasing a new RV from any of the participating Western Pennsylvania RV dealers receives one night of free camping for a family of four from each of the 24 participating Western Pennsylvania campgrounds.  This program is valued at over $800 of free camping provided with the purchase of any new RV in 2014.

In addition, any camper who stays at eight or more of the 24 participating campgrounds and RV parks, and who then submits their completed contest entry form within one year of their new RV purchase, is then entered into a special drawing to receive an additional $500 in Pennsylvania camping gift certificates, which can then be used at any campground in the organization.

The prize winner is drawn from applicants each fall at the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association convention, and is then awarded each January or February at the same RV show or dealership where the RV was purchased.

VSC Contest designer and administrator, Denny Quigley, owner of Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest Kampground, said the successful contest that began in 2009 has grown in popularity and will be available again in 2014.

“Anyone planning to purchase an RV in 2014 can get more information from any participating RV dealer displaying the Very Special Camper Contest 2014 information, or at any of the participating Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association campgrounds which can be found at,” he said.

Tim Chilson, owner of Meadville KOA Campground in Meadville added, “For those who are new to RVing, it’s a great way to introduce them to our campgrounds and RV parks.  If the new RV purchase is made by an existing camping customer, it is a great way to say thank you for your patronage to our campgrounds and RV parks.”

When Bill and Mary K. Weiss’ names were drawn as the 2012 winners, the couple said they couldn’t believe it.  They were presented $500 in free camping gift certificates at the January 2013 Pittsburgh RV Show, and a $100 gift certificate from both B&R and Clem’s RV, where they bought the RV and were then entered into the VSC Contest!

Mary K. Weiss said, “This certificate gave us an opportunity to visit campgrounds we’d never been to before!  We didn’t realize all the things that the Northern campgrounds had to offer.”

Participating Western Pennsylvania RV dealers for 2014 program include Hufnagel & Majors in Harmony; Fame RV Center in Saegertown; Clem’s Trailer Sales in Ellwood City; Starr’s Trailer Sales Brockway; Boyer RV Center in Erie; Brooks Camper Sales Connellsville; and B & R Campers Sales in Butler.
