No criminal charges in death of Winnebago worker

MIDDLEBURY, Ind. — Criminal charges will not be filed in the death of a Winnebago Towables employee who was fatally struck by a forklift at the company’s Middlebury recreational vehicle manufacturing plant in April, Goshen News reported.

Elkhart County Prosecuting Attorney Vicki Becker said in an email Monday, based on the investigation conducted by the Middlebury Police Department, there was insufficient evidence to justify charging anyone in the death of Rick Schlabach, 54, from Howe, Ind.

“Accordingly, our office has declined to file any formal criminal charges at this time,” Becker said.
