New Zealand: School rejects idea of campsites next door

(May 12, 2017) -- A proposal that encourages 100 freedom campers to park and sleep outside four Taupo learning facilities has been criticised by the Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board [TMTB] and the Ministry of Education.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — A proposal that encourages 100 freedom campers to park and sleep outside four Taupo learning facilities has been criticised by the Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board [TMTB] and the Ministry of Education.

The Taupo District Council’s proposed draft freedom camping bylaw suggests transforming land off Rickit St, near Waikato St, into a designated freedom camping site.
