  1. THE WORD “CAMPUS” IS USED TO DESCRIBE A SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY OR HOSPITAL. DOES NAVISTAR OPERATE ONE OF THOSE ON THAT SITE? JUST WONDERING…

  2. Let’s put this in contect.
    Navistar has simultaneously reduced the number of employees at the Fort Wayne Indiana Engineering Facility by 600 people. US dept of Labor noted in their Sept 23 2011 report that Navistar’s move to Lisle was a consolidation “This is a HEADCOUNT REDUCTION ACROSS THE NATION, made possible by the Global Outsourcing.”

    Also, in Navistar’ Aug 2010 application submitted to the State of IL for tax incentives, a Navistar VP stated;

    “Currently there are approximately 3100 full-time Navistar employees in Illinois from the following locations: Warrenville, Melrose Park, Downers Grove and West Chicago. By way of efficiency and effectiveness gains deployed within our current work environment in addition to normal attrition, it is anticipated that current employment will be REDUCED by 15-20%.”

  6. Hi Mike. I got this from dictionary.com — see No. 5:

    cam·pus   /ˈkæmpəs/ Show Spelled[kam-puhs] Show IPA
    noun, plural -pus·es.
    1. the grounds, often including the buildings, of a college, university, or school.
    2. a college or university: The large influx of older students radically changed many campuses throughout the country.
    3. a division of a university that has its own grounds, buildings, and faculty but is administratively joined to the rest of the university.
    4. the world of higher education: Foundation grants have had a marked effect on the character of the American campus.
    5. a large, usually suburban, landscaped business or industrial site.

    And, yes, Navistar has a big training facility there, so they would probably argue that it’s a campus in every sense of the word.
