Meyer Distributing opens Florida cross-dock

JASPER, Ind. — Meyer Distributing, an automotive specialty products marketing and distribution company, announced today the addition of its Punta Gorda, Fla., location.

The cross-dock will have a direct feed from Meyer’s Orlando, Fla., distribution hub which houses one of the largest inventories of automotive accessories and RV parts in the southeast.

“Our automotive accessory customers along the southwest coast of Florida have been asking for more deliveries for some time,” said Jason Lents, the RV and towing category sales manager for Meyer. “With the addition of many new RV customers in the region over the last few months, we are now able to make this a reality.

“Most customers in areas along the coast like Naples, Fort Myers, Sarasota and Bradenton along with customers in the south central portion of Florida, including Sebring and Avon Park, will now receive more deliveries each week and those will be earlier in the day with the new setup,” said Lents.

“We are continuing to cater our logistics network to all the new RV customers that are quickly coming on board to use Meyer as a part of their supply chain,” said Jeff Braun, Meyer chief financial officer. “We have invested a significant amount of dollars in inventory, and we are ready to go for the upcoming season.

“We’re looking forward to being a very competitive alternative in RV parts distribution that has the inventory our customers need, can deliver it to them quicker than the competition, and can do it all at the best landed cost,” he added. “Since we do not bury the cost of delivery in every part and charge it upfront like much of the competition, customers will save more in the long run on freight with a fixed, nominal route delivery fee.

“Those customers that do the math realize this very quickly,” Brauned explained. “We will, however, design freight free delivery programs for those customers that are used to this structure, and we are certainly flexible in designing an overall program that gets us on the call list. We look forward to earning the trust of our new customers and the RV industry in 2016.”

Through numerous strategically-positioned warehousing facilities, Meyer serves thousands of customers nationwide with most states via Meyer Logistics direct ship.
