LTI accuses Lippert of slideout seal infringement

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — LTI Holdings filed a complaint June 2 in U.S. District Court for Northern Indiana in South Bend alleging Lippert Components is making and selling three types of seals that LTI Holdings patented in 2005 and 2009, the Elkhart Truth reported.

The seals are used in the manufacturing of slideout rooms in recreation vehicles. The suit claims Lippert was aware of LCI’s patent since March and that the firm made or sold infringing products on RVs manufactured by Forest River and other companies, the paper explained.

LTI also sent a cease-and-desist letter to Lippert in March.

“LTI intends to enforce its rights in the intellectual property that it has spent significant time and expense in developing,” said Michael Marston, an attorney representing LTI Holdings, in his letter to Lippert.
