PHOENIX, Ariz. – A record number of KOA President’s Awards and KOA Founder’s Awards were presented to Kampgrounds of America owners Friday during the 2017 KOA International Convention in Phoenix, Arizona.
A total of 149 KOA campgrounds received the 2018 KOA President’s Award, which is presented annually to campgrounds that receive high scores in customer service from their campers, as well as high scores in KOA’s annual Quality Review.
Also, a total of 248 KOA owners received both the 2018 KOA President’s Award and the 2018 Founder’s Award.
The KOA Founder’s Award is also presented annually to those campgrounds that receive the very highest customer service scores, as well as the very highest scores in their annual Quality Review.
The KOA Founder’s Award is named in honor of Dave Drum, who founded KOA on the banks of the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana in 1962. KOA surveys hundreds of thousands of campers each year regarding their KOA camping experience, and uses that guest feedback to determine the campgrounds that deserve the KOA President’s and Founder’s Awards.
The tradition of gathering guest feedback after a KOA stay started with Drum in 1962. Drum saw the value of guest feedback from the beginning, and the tradition continues to steer the KOA guest experience.
Kampgrounds of America was born in 1962 on the banks of the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana. It has grown into a system of 500 quality campground locations blanketing North America.
