Jayco recalls 14 RVs to adjust spare wheel rim

WASHINGTON — Jayco is recalling 14 2017 Designer fifth wheel recreational trailers equipped with the disk brake option because the steel rim of the spare tire may rub against the brake caliper, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The interference may generate enough heat to cause the tire to fail, increasing the risk of a crash, NHTSA warned.

Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the spare wheel with an aluminum rim with a new spare, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 28. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 800.283.8267. Jayco’s number for the recall is 9901347.
