Hall of Fame president guest speaker at 2015 CMHI Convention

Hall of Fame president guest speaker at 2015 CMHI Convention

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — Darryl Searer, president of the RV/MH Hall of Fame, (Hall) was among the guest speakers at the recent 2015 Annual California Manufactured Housing Institute (CMHI) Convention at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, Calif.

In his remarks, Searer presented a slide show highlighting the Hall’s history, why the Hall exists and what its original goals and objectives were. Searer said, “During the past three years as your volunteer president I am constantly asked two questions: Where does the money come from and where does the money go.”

Searer presented two financial slides, one pie chart detailing the Hall’s expenses and the second, a pie chart showing sources and amounts of income.

“It’s obvious,” Searer said, “that the Hall is self sustainable through its various sources of income, including admissions and rental fees from its Northern Indiana Event Center, a division of the RV/MH Heritage Foundation. The remaining debt accrued during the construction phase of the Hall’s facility is now less than $2,000,000.

“We have several fundraising campaigns underway today, gaining strong support, making it possible for the Hall to be debt free before 2019.”

Finally, Searer pointed out there are several ways CMHI members can support the Hall such as joining the Hall of Honor, buying a brick in the RV/MH Walk of Fame or supporting the $1 Million Kevin Clayton Debt Elimination campaign that launched September 2014 with a pledge or donation. The goal of the campaign is to raise $1 million through donations and pledges to help make the Hall debt free within the next three to five years.

Searer said, “Kevin stepped up with an initial $200,000 pledge and challenged the rest of the MH industry to add to it. In the last five months those pledges and contributions have grown to over $522,000.”

Searer urged CMHI members to follow Kevin’s example and make a pledge to help the Hall meet its goal.
