#GivingTuesday campaign supports increased access to nation’s parks

ASHBURN, Va.  — This #GivingTuesday, consider a gift that will increase access to parks and rec center activities nationwide. Today through Nov. 28, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) — a network of 60,000 park and rec professionals and advocates — is accepting donations of $10, $25, $50 or more to support:

  • Providing opportunities to get kids off screens and out into nature
  • Increasing access to safe parks for all
  • Paying for healthy cooking classes for children and families
  • Providing activities for older adults who suffer from chronic diseases, such as arthritis

On #GivingTuesday, the NRPA Board of Directors will match the first $25,000 in donations to #GivetoParks.

“Parks build happy, healthy and resilient communities, and that’s why we believe everyone deserves a great park,” said Barbara Tulipane, NRPA president and CEO. “However, to make this a reality, we need the help of park users everywhere. If you value your local park, please consider donating to our cause. Together, we can make parks safe and accessible to all.”
