Episode 31 of RV Industry News features an interview with Dawn and Mark Polk, the founders of RV Education 101.
The couple met at an RV dealership where Mark was the sales manager, and Dawn came to work as a salesperson. They recognized that people buying RVs at the dealership were hungry for good instructional information on how to use and care for the RVs they purchased. But, they couldn’t find anything on the market to hand to the new RV buyers.
Because of Mark’s extensive technical training as a chief warrant officer in the Army, his work as a certified automotive technician and his experience fixing RVs as well, the couple worked to create a video to help the dealership’s new RV owners better understand how to use the RVs they bought.
The video was so well received, the Polk’s launched RV Education 101 and eventually developed more than a dozen training videos for travel trailers, motorhomes and all the components on them. They have also developed a video series on how to restore an old travel trailer, and how they are creating instructional videos in partnership with some of the biggest supplier names in the RV industry.
In the interview, the Polks describe the need for quality training materials and how RV dealers can help reduce calls and questions from new owners by providing these training materials to new RV buyers as part of the orientation process.
