BEIJING, China — People participating in the 2012 Beijing International RV and Camping Expedition are mesmerized by a 10 million yuan “house car” — or fang che — otherwise known as an RV, the Wall Street Journal reported today.
“It’s obvious that in car-crazy China automotive bling is starting to hit the road. With the expanding ranks of the rich and leisurely crowd, there is no shortage of people to mimic carefree Americans who can cruise without leaving home. All the more reason for putting a few shiny new toys on display in Beijing,” the Journal noted.
What caught their attention was a $1.6 million (10 million yuan) Dynamax Grand Sport GT that stretched more than 11 meters and seats nine people. The motorhome includes a queen size bed, shower, refrigerator, sink, toilet and sofa – and it seats nine.
Owning an RV is not easy in China. People need a specialized driving license, or they have to hire a private driver. Plus there aren’t many campgrounds at which to park an RV — yet.
