CALDWELL — The locally owned Nelson’s RVs has been sold to Camping World, the Nelson family announced Friday.

Nelson’s RVs, which has a new location on Cleveland Boulevard in Caldwell, was founded in 1983 by Byron and Donna Nelson, Wilma and Roy Petersen, and Karen and Tom Nelson, according to a news release. The company has sold about 27,000 trailers, campers and motorhomes since then.

Nelson’s sale to Camping World was finalized Thursday. Camping World will acquire three Nelson’s locations including two in Boise and the Caldwell location. That also includes inventory of nearly 500 RVs, according to the news release. Nelson’s has 75 employees.

  1. I am wondering what is going on with CW. I know they are buying up everything in sight . Now , I do not go to CW and have not been to one in two years . But , my wife and I went there to get toilet paper. Hay , they sent me a coupon ! A $10.00 coupon ! Which I could use on anything ! So toilet paper it was. My wife was the first to notice that the place looked much smaller inside. They had moved most all of the shelving units so they were closer to each other . They had gotten rid of most if not all of the wide open spaces where they used to have the chairs and sale items on display. The store felt cramped and looked much smaller than it is. I also notice not much inventory on the walls and a lot’s of bare shelving and empty back boards in the isles . What gives ? Are they closing down stores ? Just wondering if any one else has notice anything looking a bit….strange CW .
