UNITED KINGDOM — After their historic achievements at the Rio Olympics and a private wedding this summer, Britain’s ‘Golden Couple’, newlyweds Jason and Laura Kenny, thought a motorhome road trip across Europe would be the perfect way to unwind on their honeymoon out of the media spotlight, a release from Bailey stated.
A motorhome holiday not only allowed Jason and Laura the chance to visit five countries – France, Italy, Switzerland, Luxembourg & Belgium – over a month long period, but also meant that their two dogs Sprolo and Pringle were able to come along for the ride as well.
As with many modern motorhomes the Bailey Approach Advance 665 model they chose comes complete with a well-equipped kitchen, including a four burner gas hob with a combination oven and grill as well as a large capacity fridge freezer, and a large washroom featuring a full-size shower cubicle and a cassette toilet, the release stated. This particular layout has separate dining and seating areas, both of which convert into beds at night, as well as an extra ceiling mounted drop down double bed to provide occupants with flexible living space for use on extended holidays.
Laura already has previous experience of life in a Bailey motorhome through use of the support vehicle, which the company currently provides for the Matrix Fitness women’s cycling team of which she is a member. The team has been supporting and promoting the women’s cycling scene since it was officially formed in 2010 and competes at major races throughout the UK and Europe. They have a proven track record of successfully helping to hone the talents of seasoned professionals, including the likes of Laura and her fellow Olympic gold medal winning team mate Elinor Barker, as well as developing the talent of future junior riders.
“We had such a wonderful time” said Laura after completing what Jason has called their month-long “motorhomeymoon”.
“When Jason said he wanted to hire a motorhome for our honeymoon, so the dogs could come too, I was a bit skeptical. But I am so glad he did! The four of us have seen some really beautiful places on our trip and had the absolutely best time together.”
“We really can’t thank Bailey enough for the loan of the motorhome,” she added.
Nick Howard, managing director of Bailey of Bristol added, “Jason and Laura’s record-breaking success on the cycle track in Rio this summer, as part of a tremendous overall Team GB performance, has really captured the public imagination and has made the whole nation feel very proud. We were delighted therefore to be able to provide them with the use of a Bailey motorhome in which they could escape the limelight for a while to enjoy some time together to relax.”
