American RV to shut its doors for 90 days

(Oct. 24, 2013) -- "Effective Oct. 31, Camping World RV Sales will acquire the assets of American RV Centers, Inc.  Immediately thereafter, Camping World will embark on a major facilities renovation and expansion forcing temporary closing of the business.  The process should take about 90 days to complete," Albano wrote.

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. — American RV announced today that it will shut its doors Oct. 31 for a period of 90 days to transition into a Camping World location.

“After a 26 year career with Procter & Gamble, followed by a 20-year career in the RV industry, time is at hand to pursue other things,” Peter Albano, president of American RV, wrote in an e-mail to business associates yesterday. “Effective Oct. 31, Camping World RV Sales will acquire the assets of American RV Centers, Inc.  Immediately thereafter, Camping World will embark on a major facilities renovation and expansion forcing temporary closing of the business.  The process should take about 90 days to complete.

“The grand reopening will mark the beginning of an exciting new era for our company associates, customers, and business partners alike,” said Albano.”

I want to thank everyone I’ve had the privilege to meet and work with in the RV industry; it has truly been delightful and fulfilling,” he added. “As for the next phase in life’s journey, Lynn and I plan to continue our adventures together at home and wherever the road leads us.  A good start will be in a couple of months breaking in my new ski boots which arrived this week.  May God bless each and every one of you and know we will do our level best to stay in touch.”

  1. As the song goes: “Another one bites the dust!”
Camping World, Like its retail mentor, Walmart, takes out another
    Family operated operation!

  2. So sorry to see this shop sell out to CW. We had a major roof repair and AC service done at this family-run business earlier this year. They did an amazing job, were very professional and would have returned to get more work done … but ONLY If their service techs remain. If CW does what they usually do, bring in new employees, we won’t. CW, unfortunately does not have good service reviews consistently. They certainly could, but choose to focus on generating revenue versus satisfying as many customers as possible.

I do wish the owners and their staff a good life tho. You’ve worked hard and served the RV community well over the years .. oh, and be sure to take the cats with you. I doubt the CW staff will care for them as you all have. Best wishes.
