After RV fire, Texas officials warn about portable heater use

(Jan. 5, 2010) -- “People who were using space heaters either overloaded it or placed it too close to something combustible,” Fire Chief Kurt Strey told the Wilson County News. “A lady who was sleeping inside woke up to a trailer full of smoke and kicked out a window to escape. New York community to fine RV owners $200 for driveway storage

(Jan. 4, 2010) -- It is now illegal for DeWitt residents to store an RV or a boat in their driveway or front lawn under a new law that went into effect Jan. 1. However, three neighborhoods on the town’s northern side already have submitted petitions which could exempt them from the new law, the Post-Standard reported today.

New Jersey RVers face new screening laws

(Jan. 4, 2010) -- The New Providence Council approved a zoning ordinance amendment that prohibits any RV from being parked on a residential property unless it is completely shielded from public view by a combination of a fence, wall, gate, door, hedges, trees, other plant material, the Independent Press noted.

Two people badly burned in Washington State RV fire

(Jan. 4, 2010) -- The couple, who have not been identified, were taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center and were expected to be flown to Harborview Medical Center, the Northwest’s primary burn unit, in Seattle, Spokane fire officials said. The woman, who is in her early 40s, suffered burns to about 65 percent of her body, officials said, and the man, in his early 50s, was burned on about 30 percent of his body.

New travel restrictions put in place for South Dakota grassland

(Dec. 30, 2009) -- Working as a volunteer with the Pasadena Police Department's "parade watch" program, John Kendall spends his days walking the parade route to meet with RV owners whose units line the streets along the parade route. He and nearly 50 other volunteers are asking the RV owners to pay attention to their surroundings and to call police if they see anything suspicious.
