RV dealer secures SBA floorplan loan

(Sept. 23, 2009) -- The RV dealer, who asked not be identified, explained to RVDA the process the dealership went through to obtain the loan. The dealer was aware of the SBA program, and asked their regional bank to participate in the program. The dealer emphasized that the dealership was extremely pro-active with the bank. The process required the dealer’s constant encouragement to the bank to follow through with the program.

House passes bill promoting RV vehicle energy research

(Sept. 21, 2009) -- The House of Representatives passed an amendment, sponsored by Rep. Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., to the Advanced Vehicle Technology Act (H.R. 3246) that clarified that the federal research and development program created by the legislation would include research on improving the technical efficiency of RVs.

Trade creditors ease up on delinquent payers

(Sept. 16, 2009) -- Only about one-third of companies are quicker about turning over their delinquent accounts to third parties because of the downturn, according to the Credit Research Foundation. The reason? Companies want to maintain their customer relationships — even with late payers. They want to work with these customers rather than risk ticking them off and possibly losing future business.

(Sept. 25, 2009) -- Stoltzfus RV and Marine announced today their affiliation with Tiffin Motorhomes, maker of Allegro brand motorhomes. The dealership that carried the Tiffin line from the early 1980s to the late 1990s, has reacquired rights to sell the line of luxury motorhomes.

RVIA elects new officers, approves 2010 budget

(Sept. 16, 2009) -- The RV Industry Association Board of Directors re-elected Jim Sheldon, special assistant to the chairman at Monaco RV LLC, to serve as chairman of the board for fiscal year 2010 during their meeting Sept. 14 in Hershey, Pa. The board also approved an $11.6 million dollar budget for fiscal year 2010.

U.S. durable good orders fall in August by 2.4 percent

(Sept. 25, 2009) -- "Although the declines in August and July are disappointing, they are not large enough to offset the impact of solid increases late in the second-quarter." said Ferley. "As a result the level of activity in the third quarter is likely to be up from the second quarter. Fed report shows policymakers increasingly optimistic about economy

(Sept. 23, 2009) -- The Fed still anticipates "economic activity will remain weak for a time" but appears more optimistic that with the support of accommodative policy will see the economy strengthen resulting in "higher levels of resource utilization." On the inflation outlook, the Fed still expects price pressures to "remain subdued for some time" given the current amount of slack in the economy and anchored inflation expectations.
