OLYMPIA, Wash. — Park officials issued letters to about 160 Washington State Parks employees this week, explaining that, because of a budget shortfall, their jobs may be eliminated or reduced, reports OPB News.
OPB News reports that until this past summer, Washington State Parks were tax funded, but the Discover Pass user fee program replaced that funding. Sales of the passes did not take off as hoped, creating an $11 million hole.
Now dozens of rangers and other employees are suffering the consequences this holiday season, reports OPB News.
