GATLINBURG, Tenn. — The Associated Press reports that visits to Great Smoky Mountains National Park are ahead of last year’s traffic. February saw an 11.6 percent increase in visitors over Feb. 2011, according to the National Park Service.
The Associated Press reports that February visits totaled 351,617, a jump of 36,411 over Feb. 2011, making it the busiest February in the park since Feb. 2001.
The Associated Press also reports that park campgrounds saw a 24.3 percent increase in camping nights last month.
