LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. — As 2017 came to the close Campbell County received a major award from the state. Campbell County received the 2017 County Success Story Award at the annual meeting of the County Services Association Conference. The award recognized the on going success of the Lonas Young Park Project. The county was submitted for consideration by county commissioners Dewayne Kitts and Rusty Orick. Kits is chairman of the commission’s Recreation Committee.
The next phase of the Lonas Young Park Project begins this year. It includes the instillation of a senior adult outdoor gym funded by grant money. It also will feature the construction of a 15 slot RV campground. Revenue from the RV campground is projected to draw enough revenue to make the Lonas Young Park self sufficient in operating cost.
