(Feb. 21, 2013) -- A group is threatening to sue the Great Smoky Mountains National Park over its new backcountry fee and county officials plan to join the fight, reports WATE-TV.
MARYVILLE, Tenn. — A group is threatening to sue the Great Smoky Mountains National Park over its new backcountry fee, reports WATE-TV.
The new fee took effect took effect this month.
According to the news report, the Southern Forest Watch is fighting the fee and is turning to the Blount County Commission for support.
WATE-TV reports the group has threatened to sue the park over this fee from the beginning, and members of the Blount County Commission plan to join the fight, hoping to pass an official resolution today.
