NEEDLES, Calif. — A minor incident fire that started on the Arizona side of the Colorado River moved quickly into Pirate Cove due to the excessive strong winds, a release from Pirate Cove stated.
Fortunately, only minimal damage at the resort occurred which included the Zipline poles and the roof of the outdoor DJ pavilion. No damage happened to the Pirate Cove’s Restaurant and Bar, store, marina, cabins, RV park and mobile home park.
“To safeguard our guests, fire fighters felt it necessary to evacuate those in the park while they secured the controlled area that was affected,” stated Taylor Bottock of Pirate Cove.
Operations and all the facilities will be open at the start of the day on April 8, while Mobile Home owners were allowed back April 7.
A collaborative effort by Maureen Snelgrove and San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Department, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Land Management, Fisheries and Wildlife, Mojave Valley Fire, Air Rescue and countless others who responded rapidly by working hard to contain the fire from becoming a major situation.
