Owner of N.H.’s Mi-Te-Jo Campground receives Service Award

MILTON, N.H. — At its 2013 annual meeting on Saturday, Oct. 19, the New Hampshire Campground Owners Association presented a Distinguished Service Award to Gary Marique, owner of Mi-Te-Jo Campground in Milton, N.H.

Gary served on the Board of Directors for 19 years as a director for the Lakes Region Area. Ron Brown, the association’s former executive director, recruited Gary to serve on the Board, two years after Gary and his wife Susan had opened the campground.

Over twenty year ago, Gary and Susan purchased a piece of land on Milton Three Ponds that had once been a campground but had been dismantled as such by the previous owner. Working with family and friends, they transformed the property into one of New Hampshire’s premiere family campgrounds, according to a press release from the association.

Gary’s talent with landscaping and an eye for creating a welcoming environment where campers can relax and refresh has produced a truly extraordinary place to camp where all of the “essentials” just seem to fall into place, says the release.

In addition to having a great location and a full range of facilities, the campground has all of the little extras that combine to make a great vacation experience, states the release. Extras like a lake which attracts swimmers, boaters and fishermen, and beautiful landscaping in a natural setting.
