North Texas RV park to offer free swim lessons on June 21

BURLESON, Texas — Three hundred children and teens through age 18 will participate in “The World’s Large Swimming Lesson,” which takes place at 8:15 a.m. June 21.

The free swimming lesson, hosted by the North Texas Jellystone Park, is one of 700 such events taking place around the world on the same day. The lesson is designed to teach children to swim to help prevent drowning.

Last year’s event drew 41,068 students at 641 facilities in 26 countries.

The swimming lesson will take place next door to Jellystone Park at the Pirate’s Cove Water Park at 2461 S. Burleson Boulevard in Burleson.

The swim instructors will be provided by Aqua-Tots Swim School and Sigma Swim School, both of which are now part of a community drowning prevention coalition that includes Cooks Children’s Hospital, Burleson Fire Department, the City of Burleson and North Texas Jellystone Park.

Burleson Fire Department personnel will be onsite with drowning prevention materials and also providing CPR skills training beginning at 8:15 am.
