N.C.: Chimney Rock State Park closed for repair

(June 30, 2017) -- On June 30 Chimney Rock State Park will be closed for much-needed elevator repairs.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — On June 30 Chimney Rock State Park will be closed for much-needed elevator repairs.

Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park’s old elevator motor will be airlifted out of the elevator penthouse via a specialized helicopter—called the S64-F, which can carry a load of up to 25,000 pounds.
