N.C. campground to host bluegrass benefit concert

(April 18, 2013) -- A bluegrass concert fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday at Cane Creek Campground in North Carolina, will raise money for two fire victims and a man who sustained injuries while trying to rescue two children from a fire.

SNOW CAMP, N.C. — Johnny Ridge described a wave of helplessness that swept over his family following the deaths of his great-niece (age 1) and great-nephew (age 4) due to a fire on the morning of March 9. The Burlington Times News tells the story.

Steve Cosner and Brenten Shaw were driving by when they saw the house on fire, and as Cosner tried to save the children, the newspaper reports he sustained third-degree burns and now has significant medical bills to pay.

The Burlington Times reports to put together a bluegrass concert fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, Laura Ridge, Johnny Ridge’s daughter, teamed up with her dad, a fiddler with Al Batten & The Bluegrass Reunion, and Natalie Maness, co-owner of Cane Creek Campground with her husband, John “Lil John” Maness Jr.
