HELENA, Mont. — The Crystal Lake recreation area in the Big Snowy Mountains — including the boat launch, day-use site, group use site, and campground — remain closed to the public.
“It has come to our attention that various websites are showing Crystal Lake as open to the public, which is generating a lot of questions and confusion for our visitors and communities,” acting district ranger Chad Pickering said. “The hazard tree removal operations have not yet started due to the wet conditions in the recreation area; however we hope that operations will begin at the day-use and boat launch site in the next week or so.”
