Manitoba’s Spruce Woods Provincial Park is back in business

(Aug. 2, 2013) -- MetroNews Canada reports that two years after flooding damaged Kiche Manitou Campground at Spruce Woods Provincial Park, Manitobans can once again book a site, the province announced Wednesday.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — MetroNews Canada reports that two years after flooding damaged Kiche Manitou Campground at Spruce Woods Provincial Park, Manitobans can once again book a site, the province announced Wednesday.

”The damage to the lower campground was severe, but we’ve now completed the cleanup and it’s once again open to the public,” said Conservation and Water Stewardship Minister Gord Mackintosh in a release.

There are plans to direct another $3.7 million toward shoreline erosion control, road improvements, landscaping and the construction of new facilities this year, says MetroNews Canada. Over the next seven years, more than $20 million worth of improvements are planned for the park.
