Manitoba: Hot summer brings business to campground

(Sept. 13, 2017) -- The camping season is slowly drawing to a close as fall weather begins to set in. The Altona Campground saw its share of activity this summer, thanks in part to dry, hot and sunny weather.

WINKLER, Manitoba — The camping season is slowly drawing to a close as fall weather begins to set in. The Altona Campground saw its share of activity this summer, thanks in part to dry, hot and sunny weather.

“We were pretty much full every weekend through July and the majority of August,” said Recreation Director Ron Epp. He added that 40 to 45 percent of campers come from the Winnipeg area while the remaining 60 percent comes from the rest of southern Manitoba and beyond. “Certainly baseball tournaments bring them from further afield.
